HARTLEPOOL’S Mark Shelton has been ruled out of his club’s next game – after getting a cotton bud stuck in his ear.
The League Two midfielder has been taken to hospital after the bizarre injury, and will now miss today’s clash against Scunthorpe.

Pool’s gaffer Lee revealed the injury ahead of the game, with Shelton’s incident ranking among the strangest injuries suffered by sport stars.
Lee told BBC Radio Tees: “Mark’s had a cotton bud in his ear that has gone in too far.
“He’s gone to the hospital, sounds like the tweezers have gone in too far and he’s dizzy and can’t stand up.”
