He currently earns £15m-a-year deal at United – which works out as £290,000-a-week.
Former club Juventus are believed to have been priced out of a move for him due to his salary.
Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to bring the 29-year-old to Ligue 1 while Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been linked.

He said: “I know that Manchester United would like to keep him.
“They are waiting for the decision to be made on a new manager before they make a final decision. Maybe the new coach wants him to be the centre of the new project.
“They will try to renew his contract. But I think that Paul at this moment prefers a change.
“He will listen to offers in Ligue 1 and LaLiga that can give him some new ’emotions’.”

Delving further into possible destinations for the star, he added: “I don’t think Juventus is ‘so hot’ in this deal. It depends on Paul too.
“Juventus wants a new cycle or era, and they want to keep the wages not so high, and in the last years at Manchester United, Paul is earning a lot of money.
“So if he wants to stay on that kind of salary, it’s impossible to come back to Italy.
“So it depends on him. If he wants to come back to Italy because he loves Juventus and Turin, obviously Juventus would welcome him back, but he would have to lower his salary demands a lot.
“I don’t know about Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti loves him. Maybe PSG, it depends on who will decide.
“It also depends on the market. It’s difficult to say because the strategies of the clubs are not so clear, and who’s deciding the strategies is not clear.”

Di Marzio also ruled out Pogba joining Barcelona.
He added: “FC Barcelona are not in the running as they have already finalised Franck Kessie
“I don’t think Barcelona will try for him or another midfielder like him. Because they have some very young and talented midfielders, like Pedri, (Frenkie) de Jong and Gavi, I don’t think they’ll go for him.”
“They also get (Franck) Kessie this summer, so it’ll be difficult. They just signed (Andreas) Christensen and (Franck) Kessie for sure. Kessie had medicals in Milan, in Switzerland and he just signed the contract.
“We are only waiting for the official announcement but Kessie and Christiansen are done but they are free contracts so they don’t have to pay a fee to the clubs.”
