Arsenal are nailed on for top four ahead of Man Utd and Tottenham if they replicate last season’s results

ARSENAL will end their long wait for a top-four finish if they replicate the results they had last season against their remaining opponents.

Mikel Arteta’s troops are currently four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with 42 points to their name.

But the north Londoners have THREE games in hand on Ralf Rangnick’s inconsistent Red Devils.

And according to Opta, the Gunners will pip United to fourth spot if they repeat last season’s results in their upcoming fixtures.

If Arsenal do indeed turn in exactly the same results, they’ll end up finishing fourth with 65 points.

United with finish in fifth with 63 points, while fellow Champions League chasers Tottenham and West Ham will finish in sixth and seventh place respectively with 62 and 61 points to their names.

Arsenal kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive last Saturday with a 2-1 win over Brentford at the Emirates.

Emile Smith Rowe got the Gunners up and running with a superb second-half solo strike before Bukayo Saka doubled their advantage with 11 minutes of normal time remaining.

And England international Smith Rowe believes the Londoners will be in the top-four come the end of the season.

The 21-year-old midfielder said: “It’s looking good at the moment, but there are a lot of games to go.

“We are just going to keep focused on that.

“We are not too worried about the end of the season right now.”

Arteta, however, is refusing to count his chickens just yet.

He said: “It’s a long way to go but we are a little bit closer today because we have won our game and that’s what we have to do,” he said.

“We have to go on Thursday again. We need to prepare really well because against Wolves it’s going to be a difficult match.”

Arsenal will be back in action on Thursday night, welcoming Wolves to the Emirates.
