Fuming Shane Duffy and Robert Sanchez ‘had to be separated in Brighton tunnel with damage done to WALL’ in Burnley loss

SHANE DUFFY and Robert Sanchez reportedly had to be ‘separated’ following a half-time bust-up during Brighton’s defeat to Burnley.

The Seagulls suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to the relegation battlers on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Wout Weghorst, Josh Brownhill and Aaron Lennon doing the damage.

Duffy and Sanchez almost came to blows in the first half after getting in the way of each other as they attempted to clear a long ball into the box.

Sanchez fumed at Duffy, who responded by SHOVING the keeper his in the chest.

Words were exchanged in the tunnel and another clash quickly ensued, with the pair’s team-mates eventually intervening.

And according to the Daily Mail, their scuffle caused some damage to a wall.

Seagulls chief Graham Potter was far from impressed by the on-field incident but stopped short of criticising the pair.

He said: “That sums up the frustration and sums up the disappointment.

“They are human beings, both of them care a lot and didn’t channel it in the best way.

Defeat to The Clarets saw Brighton fail to narrow the gap between themselves and eighth-placed Tottenham.

Potter said of the loss: “When it’s like that I have to look at it. The team wasn’t set up on the right way, the balance wasn’t quite there.

“We didn’t quite have the right shape. All those things I will take responsibility for and try to learn from it.

“There are some young players on the pitch and we are all trying to get better.

“A disappointing afternoon and I can only say sorry to the supporters who were there because it wasn’t a good performance from us.

“It wasn’t from a lack of trying from the boys. It wasn’t our day and I haven’t been able to say that too often.”

Brighton will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, welcoming Aston Villa to the Amex Stadium.
