Hojbjerg saves Bergwijn from being banned for Chelsea after he scores record-breaking Tottenham winner against Leicester

PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG saved Steven Bergwijn from getting sent off in celebration against Leicester and then banned against Chelsea.

The Dutchman scored two goals in as many minutes to secure Spurs an astonishing 3-2 comeback win against the Foxes.

Bergwijn, already on a yellow, went to celebrate with the jubilant travelling Tottenham supporters in the stands.

But team-mate Hojbjerg pulled him back before doing so and in turn prevented a second booking.

It would have seen the match-winning forward miss Spurs’ trip to Chelsea on Sunday.

Hojbjerg, who also won the ball which started Tottenham’s counter-attacking winner, was praised for his overall quick thinking against Leicester.

One fan said: “Hojbjerg pulling Bergwijn’s shirt to stop him from getting another yellow throughout the celebrations was class.”

Another added: “Not only did Hojbjerg regain possession for the Spurs winner, but he also grabbed Bergwijn for the celebrations, stopping him from getting a red card by and missing the Chelsea match.”

But his last-gasp double may have changed manager Antonio Conte’s mind, especially heading into a hectic run of fixtures.

Bergwijn’s winner meant Spurs came from behind despite being in a losing position on 94 minutes and 52 seconds.
