  • Cape Verde 0-0 Cameroon

5 The two teams are rather evenly-matched in the opening few minutes.

That’s a big deal for Cape Verde as they have been badly hit from coronavirus with their manager Bubista forced to self-isolate at home.

His assistant Humberto Bettencourt has taken charge in the dugout today

  • Cape Verde 0-0 Cameroon

    2 And another quick reminder:

Cape Verde manager Bubista appears to have opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation with Vozinha starting between the sticks and Diney Borges, Roberto Lopes as well as captain Stopira in defence.

Jeffry Fortes plays at right wing-back with Dylan Tavares on the other side, while Patrick Andrade and Kenny Santos link up in midfield.

Lisandro Semedo and Jamiro Monteiro play behind centre-forward Willi Semedo

  • Cape Verde 0-0 Cameroon

    1 Just a quick reminder:

Cameroon manager Toni Conceicao appears to have picked a 4-1-4-1 formation with Andre Onana starting in goal.

Collins Fai starts at right-back with Nouhou Tolo on the other side, while Harold Moukoudi and Michael Ngadeu team up at centre-back.

Samuel Oum Gouet plays as a holding midfielder behind the pair of Pierre Kunde and Andre Anguissa, while Nicolas Ngamaleu and Karl Toko Ekambi cover the right and left wing respectively.

Captain Vincent Aboubakar leads the attack, just as expected

  • PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

AND OFF WE GO IN CAMEROON!!!!!

  • FAST KAR

Cameroon star Vincent Aboubakar is the Africa Cup of Nations’ leading goalscorer.

Aboubakar has netted a total of four goals in two matches so far with braces against Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.

That’s two goals more than Wahbi Khazri, Gabadinho Mango, team-mate Karl Toko Ekambi and Ibrahima Kone.

The Al-Nassr star poses as the most dangerous player on the pitch today

  • Cape Verde stats

Cape Verde are third in Group A with the same points as second-placed Burkina Faso.

Bubista’s men defeated Ethiopia in their group opener and then lost to Burkina Faso.

A victory would seal qualification as long as Burkina Faso don’t win as well.

If both teams fail to emerge victorious then the Blue Sharks will have to better the latter’s result.

But even if Cape Verde finish third, then they can still hope to qualify for the Round of 16

  • Cameroon stats

Cameroon are already through to the Africa Cup of Nations’ Last 16.

The Copa Africa hosts top Group A with six points, which is three more than second-placed Burkina Faso.

Toni Conceicao’s men have won both of their first two matches against Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.

Cameroon have also netted six goals, four of which are from the competition’s leading scorer Vincent Aboubakar

  • GOOD AFTERNOON FROM CAMEROON

Welcome to our live coverage of the Africa Cup of Nations clash between Cape Verde and Cameroon at the Paul Biya Stadium.

The Copa Africa hosts have already punched their ticket to the Last 16 and Cape Verde are hoping to join them in the play-offs.

Toni Conceicao’s team have been enjoying a dream start in the competition as they beat both Burkina Faso and Ethiopia in Group A.

Al-Nassr star Vincent Aboubakar has been on fire as he scored a brace in each of his national team’s outings and is expected to lead the line once more.

There’s a high chance Aboubakar will team up with Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi up front for their final match in the group stage.

Conceicao has a number of experienced players at his disposal, such as Bayern Munich star Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as well as Middlesbrough ace James Lea Siliki.

Cape Verde manager Bubista, on the other hand, is expected to maintain Vozinha between the sticks after his return from injury against Burkina Faso last time out.

However, the African nation could make a slight tweak up front as Al-Faisaly ace Julio Tavares was in some discomfort following their most recent encounter on Thursday
