JESSE LINGARD looks destined to stay at Manchester United in January despite being strongly linked with a move away, reports suggest.
Lingard has been the subject of interest from West Ham and Newcastle, but now looks set to remain a Manchester United player until the summer.
Newcastle have decided against making a move for Lingard in January, according to The Athletic.
Eddie Howe’s beleaguered Magpies are desperate for reinforcements, winning just one league game all season.
January signings are expected, but Lingard will NOT be one of them.
The 29-year-old has also decided to stay and fight for his place in Ralf Rangnick’s side.
He is out-of-contract in the summer, and free to begin negotiations with overseas clubs from January 1.
Talks regarding a new deal stalled earlier this year, with Lingard seemingly destined to leave once his contract expires.

There had been talk of a cut-price January transfer, but that is now off the cards.
Instead he will try and force his way into the plans of interim boss Rangnick in the second half of the season.
The playmaker has found opportunities hard to come by so far this campaign.
Lingard is yet to start a game in the Premier League this season, with all eight of his appearances coming off the bench.
His only starts since the summer have come in the Carabao Cup, and the Champions League games against Young Boys in which United were already through.
But Covid-19 chaos could see Lingard promoted to the starting line-up as the ongoing spread of the Omicron variant wreaks havoc to Prem sides.
Lingard scored nine goals in 16 games while on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season.
It led to belief that he may well revive his Manchester United career this season.
Those hopes have failed to materialise after a lack of opportunities, resulting in continued speculation regarding his future.
For now though he seems destined to remain at Old Trafford until the summer.
