Tyson Fury fight with Dillian Whyte targeted for March in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and WON’T have rematch clause

FRANK WARREN revealed Tyson Fury’s fight with Dillian Whyte is targeted for March in Cardiff – and will NOT have a rematch clause.

The WBC have now officially ordered Fury to defend his title against mandatory challenger Whyte.

A stadium-filler is only right, but with a chilly and potentially rainy spring fight date eyed, only Cardiff’s 75,000-seater can house the British crowd.

Promoter Warren told talkSPORT: “You’ve got to be realistic and look at the time of the year.

“First of all, of course it’s a stadium fight but to put it in any stadium that doesn’t have a roof and unfortunately none of them have got roofs other than Cardiff.

“That’s where we are. March is, we won’t exactly be out in our shorts will we?

“And football season is on, so that will be a problem with nearly all the grounds. So, Cardiff would look to be the favourite.”

Fury, 33, most recently knocked out Deontay Wilder, 36, in round 11 of their epic trilogy bout in October.

Meanwhile Whyte, 33, avenged defeat to Alexander Povetkin, 42, in March, and was due to face Otto Wallin, 31, weeks later.

AJ’s rematch clause has prevented Fury from challenging Usyk in the first-ever, four-belt heavyweight unification.

But Warren revealed there will be no such rematch stipulation when Fury defends his crown against Whyte.

He said: “No, we’ll just get it on. I don’t think we’ll need a rematch.”
