DANI ALVES has described Fred as “world class” – and levelled Manchester United’s recent issues at the door of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Manchester United have won just two of their last seven games in all competitions, dropping to sixth in the Premier League table as a result.
But Alves does not believe the blame should be put on his Brazilian compatriot.
He said: “Every Brazilian becomes world class when wearing the national team jersey.
“I hear so many people complaining about Fred. But when he plays for Brazil he is better than all of their midfielders.
“The problem is the club or coach, not Fred.”
Alves is the most successful footballer of all time having won a staggering 43 trophies during his incredible career.
The 38-year-old enjoyed spells at some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer has not won a single trophy with Man Utd since taking over from Jose Mourinho in December 2018.
And his side’s latest poor run has left him with a number of unanswered questions surrounding his managerial capabilities.
But Solskjaer defended his progress with the team ahead of their Champions League game against Atalanta on Wednesday.

He said: “We’ve progressed over the years.
“Sixth when I was here for half a season then third, second, you can see the progress, improvement and development and this season we still want to improve.
“Yeah, we’ve signed players that have raised expectations. Other teams have signed players and improved as well so we’re in the same boat as all the top teams.”
