GOODBYE FROM THE BRIDGE
The fans were finally back in bulk, and soon so too will the Premier League. We’ve had an entertaining appertiser this evening, but it’s nearly time for the main course that is ten months of thrilling football.
Spurs have one more pre-season test, but they don’t come any bigger or more important. When it’s Arsenal at home, it doesn’t matter what competition it is.
As for Chelsea, their attentions now turn to the Super Cup and a date in Belfast with Villarreal on Wednesday. Will Thomas Tuchel’s team start the season as they mean to go on by winning more silverware?
We’ll bring you the live action from both games so be sure to join us, but until then, thanks for reading and goodnight.
NUNO’S FIGHTING SPIRIT
New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo praised his players for the way they fought back to draw with Chelsea in the pre-season Mind Series – although added that there is still much work to do.
[The comeback] shows character, it shows determination, it shows belief.
We want to prepare the boys for what’s to come. It was a tough test, but it was a good test.
Nuno Espirito Santo
THE MIND SERIES
Chelsea end the Mind Series unbeaten, but could still be pipped to top spot by Tottenham.
As well as the standard three points for a win, teams are also awarded a point for every goal scored so a Spurs win over Arsenal on Sunday in which they score three or more will see them take the title.
- 1st: Chelsea – Played 2, Points 8
- 2nd: Tottenham – Played 1, Points 3
- 3rd: Arsenal – Played 1, Points 1
