CANELO ALVAREZ is on track to become undisputed super-middleweight champion with talks to start on a Caleb Plant fight.
The Mexican added the WBO belt to his WBC and WBO straps when he stopped Billy Joe Saunders before the ninth round started.
Now his promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed the IBF version is next in his sights.
American Plant has that strap, with the 28-year-old undefeated in 21 fights.
Hearn has told the DAZNBoxing show that ‘talks will begin this week for Canelo vs Caleb Plant’.
And the 41-year-old Essex promoter has named the new Allegiant Stadium in Vegas as a potential venue.
Canelo is likely to want to fight on Mexican Independence weekend, so that fight could be pencilled in for September 18.
Speaking after he delivered a brutal eighth-round uppercut to shatter Saunders’ dreams, Canelo said: “I have the best trainer, here’s Eddy [Reynoso], he tells me, I prepare, do this and I do it.
“The plan is to go for the other belt [Caleb Plant owns], I’m coming. I hope so.”
Canelo has not lost since a 2013 split decision defeat to the legend Floyd Mayweather.

And Saunders was the latest in a long line of Brits to be obliterated by the Mexican.
Matthew Hatton, Ryan Rhodes, Amir Khan, Liam Smith, Rocky Fielding, and Callum Smith have all failed to trouble Canelo in the squared circle.
Saunders was rushed to hospital and Eddie Hearn confirmed he was undergoing surgery the day after.
And the boxer has now come out and updated fans on his progress.
He wrote on his Facebook: “Thanks everyone for msg.
“Broken eye socket and broken cheekbone in three places – operation yesterday, all went well.
“You win some and lose some. Didn’t feel out my league but got caught with a good shot and couldn’t see.
“Thank you all who watched. I’ll be back, God bless you all.”
