Man Utd and Arsenal on red alert over £15m Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea as he eyes transfer exit

MANCHESTER UNITED and Arsenal are monitoring Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea, according to reports.

The 28-year-old France international has scored five Bundesliga goals this term and will reportedly cost around £15million.

According to the Daily Mail, Plea wants to leave the German giants this summer and, with only one year left on his current deal, will be available for a relatively low price.

Gladbach paid £21m for the player back in 2018 when he arrived from Nice, having previously been linked with a move to Arsenal.

At the time there were also reports linking Plea with both West Ham and Tottenham.

It is believed Arsenal are concerned about losing star strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

Rumours of United’s interest in the Frenchman first circulated in May 2020, with reports suggesting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had made contact with the forward’s representatives.

It is believed Solskjaer’s first-choice signing is Erling Haaland, but reports claim the Red Devils cannot afford to purchase the Norweigan star.

United are also said to be worried about Edinson Cavani’s future, with reports suggesting he doesn’t want to stay at Old Trafford.

Plea has scored 27 goals in 87 Bundesliga games since leaving Nice three years ago.

The versatile forward, who can be deployed out wide, picked up his one and only France cap in November 2018.

He scored 16 goals in 35 Ligue 1 games during his final season at Nice, playing alongside former Manchester City star Mario Balotelli.
