Tottenham forced to hand Jose Mourinho huge £15m severance package.. but how much has he cost to sack through years?

JOSE MOURINHO is set to pocket £15million from his Tottenham sacking.

The Portuguese chief, 58, was given the boot by Spurs on Monday amid a horror 2021.

Tottenham’s hopes of landing a top-four spot continued to crumble following a 2-2 draw with Everton.

And having already crashed out of the Europa League at the last-16 stage – having thrown away a 2-0 first-leg lead to Dinamo Zagreb – Mourinho’s days were already looking numbered.

But his sacking came at an odd time – just hours after the announcement the club were taking part in the controversial European Super League AND less than a week before their Carabao Cup final vs Man City.

Nevertheless, chairman Daniel Levy opted to part ways with Mourinho.

And early reports claim the ex-Chelsea and Manchester United chief will be awarded around £15m in compensation.

It means the Portuguese boss has now raked in a staggering £77.5m in sacking payouts alone.

Mourinho’s first stint at Chelsea – in which he won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup – remains his biggest pay-day though.

After missing out on the title in the 2006-07 season, Mourinho was on thin ice after his constant clashes with the board.

Roman Abramovich finally had enough of the Special One after a poor start to the season – encapsulated in a shock draw at home to Norwegian minnows Rosenborg.

The Russian billionaire eventually paid Mourinho £18m to walk away from Stamford Bridge.

After a trophy-laden spell at Inter Milan, where he won the two Serie A titles and the Treble, Mourinho was off to Real Madrid.

Although Mourinho was able to win one title in the Spanish capital, his spell was defined by huge bust-ups with Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Los Blancos decided they’d had enough of him and Florentino Perez eventually handed the manager £17m on his way back to Chelsea.

Things certainly seemed rosy when Chelsea dominated their rivals on their way to the League Cup and Premier League title in 2015.

But that summer Mourinho again fell foul of the Chelsea board, left furious with the decision of the board to sell Blues legend Petr Cech to rivals Arsenal.

He was left even more angry when his list of preferred transfer targets was ignored.

His massive row with club doctor Eva Caneiro on the opening day of the season signalled the end and after a miserable three months, Chelsea pulled the plug for a second time that December, this time costing £12.5m.

At Manchester United it was a similar story, instant success – with the club winning the League Cup and Europa League in his first season – before in-fighting, moody press conferences and war with the board.

Mourinho was eventually given a £15m payout before he was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And a further rumoured £15m from Tottenham will take his career total to £77.5m.
