Bayern Munich face potential crisis with boss Hansi Flick ready to quit club amid internal power struggle

BAYERN MUNICH chiefs are set to hold crisis talks with boss Hansi Flick amid an epic power struggle.

The Bundesliga giants have a huge decision to make in the coming weeks regarding the future direction of the club, now approaching a crossroads.

Members of the Bayern Munich board are now set to sit down with Flick, 56, to hash everything out.

Tensions between boss and club brass have been simmering since last summer.

Flick was frustrated at the departure of Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool after he played a huge role in their famous 2019-20 Treble.

And the boss has been left angered after club chiefs refused to dig deep enough into their pockets to convince David Alaba and Jerome Boateng to sign new contracts.

The pair are set to walk away for free this summer.

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic reacted to Flick’s disappointment with the signings of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Bouna Sarr, Marc Roca and Douglas Costa.

Only Choupo-Moting is a regular in the Bayern first-team, even then mostly due to injury to Robert Lewandowski.

Last summer, an angry Flick raged: “Let me say it this way: I have been the head coach for a year and a half here.

“We had a team last year that was quality-wise better than this year, everyone knows that.”

Flick has also had his head turned after Joachim Low announced he would leave his role as Germany boss in the summer.

Now Salihamidzic, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Oliver Kahn – set to replace the current chief executive officer in January 2022 – will hold talks with Flick to discuss where they go from here, say BILD.

Flick’s job could hinge heavily on the club’s performance in the Champions League this season.

Bayern trail Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 going into Tuesday night’s second-leg in the French capital – with Kahn in attendance.

A quarter-final exit would be borderline unthinkable for the reigning champions, with an early KO potentially spelling the end of Flick at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich are still top of the Bundesliga though, leading nearest rivals RB Leipzig by five points with six games to play.

However, they did suffer an embarrassing DFB-Pokal second-round exit at the hands of second-tier Holstein Kiel earlier in the season, also piling pressure on Flick.
