Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table with Man Utd finishing second, and Chelsea missing out on top four

MANCHESTER UNITED will finish second in the Premier League this season, with Chelsea OUT of the top-four, according to a supercomputer.

Just as the business end of the season got going, the Red Devils suffered a sharp dip in form.

As well as last month’s loss at the hands of basement boys Sheffield United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co slipped to a 1-1 draw with relegation-battling West Brom on Sunday.

United have also drawn 3-3 with Everton and 0-0 with Arsenal in recent weeks.

But a supercomputer has still predicted Man Utd will finish second this season – their joint-best effort since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

According to FiveThirtyEight, United have just a ONE PER CENT chance of winning the Premier League, such is the dominance of rivals Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side have a staggering 98 per cent chance of clinching the title, says the number-crunching computer and are set to win the league by a comfortable 18 points.

But United will still play second fiddle ahead of Liverpool and Leicester.

The Reds are already on the brink of conceding their Premier League title, with Jurgen Klopp even admitting it’s over.

But they’ll be relieved to snatch a top-four spot, with the supercomputer giving them a 70 per cent chance of qualifying for next-season’s Champions League.

Leicester are tipped to finish fourth, meaning Chelsea – who replaced Frank Lampard with Thomas Tuchel in January – are expected to finish OUTSIDE of the top-four.

The Blues are expected to finish fifth by the supercomputer – one point below Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes.

West Ham are tipped to finish sixth, ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham – while Everton and Arsenal are set to end up in ninth and tenth respectively.

Mikel Arteta’s side have just a FOUR PER CENT chance of grabbing a Champions League spot this season.

That’s level with Everton, but below Villa (ten per cent), Spurs and Villa (both 12 per cent).

At the other end of the table, Sam Allardyce’s streak of great escapes finally looks set to end.

It’s predicted West Brom will finish dead-last – with a 98 per cent chance of relegation.

Sheff Utd and Fulham are tipped to go down with the Baggies.

However, the Cottagers are just a 57 per cent shot to be relegated after an upturn in form in 2021, most-recently beating Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park.

Newcastle are due to end up 17th, but have a 29 per cent chance of heading back down to the Championship.
