Mesut Ozil reveals best-ever Arsenal team-mate XI including Sanchez and admits he’d RETIRE before joining Tottenham

MESUT OZIL named Alexis Sanchez and Serge Gnabry in the best XI of players he has played with at Arsenal.

The Gunners outcast took part in a Twitter Q&A and also revealed he’d sooner retire than play for Tottenham.

Ozil, 32, has not played for Mikel Arteta’s side this season having been left out of their Premier League and Europa League squads.

And he doesn’t seem to have much love for the 2020-21 team as a result as he named just ONE current player in the best XI he has ever played with during his time at the Emirates.

Nilo asked the German: “Who is your top Arsenal XI in the era you played for the club?”

Ozil named David Ospina behind a four-man defence including Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Sead Kolasinac – who is on loan at Schalke.

Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla were his two picks at the base of midfield.

And the attacking midfield trio would frighten most defences if the players were in their prime.

Ozil named himself in the No 10 role with Bayern star Serge Gnabry on the right wing and Sanchez on the left.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the only current Gunners star given the nod with Ozil naming him up front on his own.

Ozil and his team may split opinion among Gunners fans, but he will have endeared himself to them with another answer he gave.

Jimmy asked: “Now that your contract is nearing the end with Arsenal, If you only had one contract offer and that was from Tottenham….

“Would you rather retire or sign for Tottenham…?”

And the playmaker quickly answered: “Easy question, Retire.”

Hundreds of questions poured in on Twitter with Rubie keen to know if Ozil has enjoyed any of his Arsenal career given his current isolation.

Ozil replied: “Of course – there have been many ups and downs so far, but all in all I’ve never regret my decision to join Arsenal.

“And to be honest the last couple of games before the corona break in February & March 2020 made really a lot fun.

“I’ve enjoyed that time a lot and I’ve thought we’re really on a very positive way. But after the break things unfortunately changed.”

On Sunday, SunSport exclusively revealed Ozil is happy to leave Arsenal in January and let the North Londoners pay his contract off over the next three years.
