Real Madrid top all-time Champions League table with Man Utd most successful English team as best 20 sides revealed

REAL MADRID are the most-successful team in Champion League history – that is a well-known fact.

The Spanish giants have won 13 European titles in their glittering history – more than any other club.

A lot more than any other club… AC Milan sit second with seven trophies, with Liverpool and Bayern Munich next on six apiece.

Los Blancos enjoyed a purple patch in the 2010s, winning ‘Ol’ Big Ears’ in 2014, as well as three in a row between 2016 and 2018.

But as well as winning the most Champions League trophies, Real Madrid would also be top of the charts in terms of points.

Once the group stages are over, the remaining 16 teams all go into a straight knockout situation – but what if points were awarded like in the early round?

In that case, Real Madrid are yet again runaway leaders with a staggering 863 points from their 441 Champions League games.

To average nearly two points per game against Europe’s best clubs – including knockout rounds against the creme de la creme is exceptional.

And over 400 matches is no small sample size, either…

No one comes close, with reigning champions Bayern Munich in second on just 686 points from 350 games.

Barcelona rank third with 626 points – winning five trophies down the years.

Manchester United are England’s most-successful club, coming fourth overall on 512 points.

Juventus (493) sit fifth, ahead of AC Milan (417), Liverpool and Porto (both 375).

Benfica (371) and Ajax (325) complete the top ten – with the Premier League’s next-best performers Arsenal (306) and Chelsea (297) in 11th and 12th respectively.

Amongst British clubs, only Celtic also crack the top 20, with a total of 205 points in all.

Fellow Scottish Premiership side Rangers (160) sit 25th, ahead of Manchester City (142) in 29th.
