ARSENAL are tipped to pull off a ‘special’ deal in January and could land Dominik Szoboszlai, according to reports.

Houssem Aouar was a major target during the club’s busy summer spree but chose to stick with Lyon.

More recently, RB Salzburg star Szoboszlai has caught the eye of the Gunners.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the winger has been on Arsenal’s radar for a number of years.

And he told Que Golazo Podcast that something ‘special’ is brewing at Emirates Stadium ahead of the window opening.

Multiple outlets have reported on the interest in 20-year-old prodigy Szoboszlai.

The midfielder scored a spectacular last-minute winner to send Hungary to Euro 2020 in their recent play-off with Iceland.

He has also made a splash in the Champions League, netting against Lokomotiv Moscow and Atletico Madrid before suffering a horror miss in the defeat to Bayern Munich.

In total, the Salzburg star has eight goals and nine assists in 2020-21.

The Austrian side’s sister team, RB Leipzig, and Tottenham are also rumoured to be keen on Szoboszlai.

Whether he can help Arteta’s side soon is another matter however, with Salzburg said to want their man back on loan until the summer.

Arsenal could certainly do with attacking reinforcements pronto having slipped down the table.

Only the three teams in the relegation zone have scored fewer goals than the Gunners, who face rivals Spurs on the weekend.

Former Premier League star Roy Keane even remarked after the defeat to Wolves that Arteta is facing a relegation battle.

Looking ahead to the North London derby, he said: “The [games] all seem big at the moment, don’t they?

“Maybe that might be the best game for them to have next… it’s a derby and it’s away, so less pressure than at home.

With a smile, he added: “But Arsenal… I still think they have enough to stay up.

“I think they’ll be strong enough to stay in the division.”
