Roy Keane visits local food bank to help out charity as Man Utd hardman shows caring side in his community

ROY KEANE was spotted visiting a local food bank to help out as he showed off his caring side.

The acid-tongued Sky Sports pundit, 49, has made headlines for a series of scathing attacks this season.

Roy Keane surprised volunteers at Cork Penny Meals to help dish out food to the hungry

Keane called Kyle Walker an ‘idiot’ for his ‘car crash defending’ against Liverpool, with Manchester City complaining to Sky.

The ex-Manchester United star has also slammed his former team time and time again for their lack of fight at times this term.

But the Irish legend proved he has a softer side too, dropping in on local charity Cork Penny Dinners to help dish out food to those in need.

Keane headed home to Ireland to get his hands dirty at one of Cork’s oldest charities – who give away up to 2,000 meals per day.

And according to one charity worked, Keane’s visit was no one-off.

Catriona Twomey, a Cork Penny Dinners volunteer, told radio station 96fm: “He had time for everyone.

“One of our volunteers didn’t believe it, because Roy was wearing the mask.

“It only came off for the photograph.

“It was only then the volunteer believed it… he thought we were pranking him!

“He’s very good to us, Roy. He always pops in.”

Cork Penny Meals dish out soup, a main course, dessert and tea or coffee to those in need 365 days a year.

They also send visitors home with sandwiches, fruit, biscuits and juice to ensure they’re tied over until the next day.

For those sleeping rough, the charity also hand out warm clothes, sleeping bags and duvets.
