  • THAT’S A WRAP

Thanks for joining us this evening; take a look at our match report here.

  • HAT-TRICK BAMFORD

Just about catching our breath after that second half.

  • BOSS SPEAKS

Speaking of Grealish’s two close chances this evening, Smith added: “It wasn’t his night tonight and they were the moments that we need in games like this.

“I felt we were a little surprised at being behind and we didn’t handle it very well, but I don’t want to take credit away from Leeds as they were very good .

“We’re disappointed we didn’t make history tonight, but we’ll learn from this and be prepared for our next game.”

  • MORE TO BE DEAN

Speaking after the game, Aston Villa boss Dean Smith said: “It was frustrating as we lost our 100 per cent record.

“But it was a fairly even first half in terms of chances, but we didn’t take advantage of some moments.

“Jack went on a really good run, but decent keeping stopped him

“I think we got too disillusioned and disappointed by their goals.

“Though I’m disappointed with the result, I’ve just said to the players that we should be very pleased to have got 12 points from five games.”

  • SHOWING HIS CARDS

Pascal Struijk was taken off after just 19 minutes this evening, when asked about replacing him, Bielsa said: “He got a yellow card early on and there was a lot of agility and mobility in the centre, so I wanted to take him off as a result.

“After the yellow card he had another foul that was at the limit, this worried me.”

  • BOSS SPEAKS

Speaking after the game, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said: “It was a good performance, better in the second half, but the first half was also good.

“We defended well, we attacked well and we had the luck to score before they did, as they had a few chances to score too.”

Bielsa was very pleased with Bamford’s performance which resulted in a hat-trick, he added: “I’m very happy for him, apart from that, they were all very nice goals, in fact they were some of the nicest goals he’s scored for us.”

  • MYTHTAKE

Bamford silenced the idea that Bielsa was a myth, in his post-match interview.

He said: “Someone was saying in the press that Bielsa is a myth!

“But I think we showed everyone that Leeds are here to compete.”

  • MAN OF THE MATCH

Speaking on BT Sport, man of the match Patrick Bamford said: “This is what you dream of growing up, this means the world to me.

“I was frustrated with my two efforts in the first half, but I knew I’d get another chance.

“I’ve got a manager who believes in me, as long as I’m working hard he’ll continue to believe in me.

“Villa are on a good run and they’re a good team- we’ve showed everyone that Leeds are here to compete.”

  • PAT ON THE BACK

Leeds are now up to third in the table following that impressive performance and Patrick Bamford has his hands on the match ball, thanks to three very different goals.

Villa may have silenced the defending champions, but the newly promoted team were just too quick on the counter.

  • FT: Villa 0-3 Leeds

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    95. Seven Leeds players forward for one final hurrah, but Harrison lashes it wide.

Villa will just want to hear the whistle now.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    94. Smith looks shell-shocked on the touchline, while Bielsa doesn’t look like a man whose side are three goals up.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    93. Barkley hustles Leeds off the ball in the middle of the park and picks out McGinn at the top of the box.

McGinn turns and shoots, but his left-footed effort flies just over the bar.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    91. Five added minutes at Villa Park.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    90. Villa came so close to a goal there!

On the counter, Villa manage to open up Leeds’ defence, as Barkley picks out a running Watkins on the right.

He sends the ball just wide of the far post, but it could so easily have been a goal, a consolation one at that.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    89. Klich brings down McGinn as he speeds towards the box, he’s booked for the challenge.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    89. Bamford and Cash are involved in a colliding header, but ref gives Villa the free kick.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    87. Villa look well and truly done now, their perfect start to the season has come to an abrupt end this evening.

But you have to give it to Leeds, they’ve been very impressive this evening.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    84. Leeds are pulling Villa apart.

Shackleton makes a decent run down the right channel and swings the ball into the box where it’s met by Bamford’s head.

But Bamford’s header is too soft and flies straight at Martinez’s hands.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    83. The approach play by Leeds is certainly easy on the eye!

Raphinha swings the ball from the right wing to Harrison making a run down the edge of the box on the left.

Harrison pulls it back to Hernandez who’s free in the centre of the box, but his positioning is all wrong and he smashes it way over the bar.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    83. There really is plenty of depth on the Leeds bench!

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    82. Costa’s night is over as he’s replaced by Raphinha.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    80. Hernandez tries to pull the back back to Bamford but Watkins places himself in the path of the pass and manages to clear it.

There’s a VAR check for a Villa handball by Luiz, but it complete and there’s no pen.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    78. Leeds don’t look like they’re done, they seem as though they have the appetite for another goal.

  • Villa 0-3 Leeds

    77. Barkley fouls Rodrigo and gives away a free-kick from 25-yards out, on the right.

He blazes it over the bar before he’s replaced by Hernandez.
