But the inspirational 23-year-old has not let that stop him from chasing his dreams.

Musonda has undergone an incredible body transformation while on the road to recovery.

The Belgian star has spent hours in the gym to build up his strength – and it shows.

Fans could not believe their eyes when he shared a picture of himself in the gym.

Musonda grinned for the camera as he showed off his bulging biceps.

Alongside the image, he wrote: “The rare see the beauty of the trenches, and I call it home.”

The former Inter Milan target has used his time wisely to improve on his weak areas.

He emerged as one of the best youngsters on the planet before Chelsea signed him in 2012.

But critics were quick to slate him for not being physical enough and lacking upper-body strength.

Should he return to the football field, he will be bigger and stronger than ever.

Musonda first suffered a knee injury while on loan with Real Betis in the 2016-17 season.

But he suffered another knock while at Vitesse Arnhem in September 2018.

The winger underwent surgery in August 2019 – and has remained focused on his recovery ever since.

Despite the odds being stacked against him, Musonda has vowed to ‘climb the impossible mountain’ and return to football.

Musonda revealed: “It’s been fours years since I played back to back professional games, three years since I last played for my club…

“Two of those last four years, I’ve been injured with the post cruciate ligament of my knee.

“Nothing but heartbreak and heartache.

“Doctors told me going through surgery after being out for so long would be the end.

“‘An impossible mountain to climb’, were the exact words.”

Before the Belgian added: “I’ll keep climbing the insurmountable mountain everyday to run with the football once again, because there’s no better feeling than taking someone on and feeling alive.

“Until that day comes I’ll keep training and believing in the impossible comeback.”
