LEEDS are hoping to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to reports.
The 20-year-old impressed during loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City in the Championship last season and Aston Villa and West Brom have also made their interest known to the Blues.
Leeds want to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher
Leeds are pushing to buy Gallagher but Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is known to be a fan so a loan deal looks more likely.
The Whites are so convinced of Gallagher’s suitability to Marcelo Bielsa’s system they would be willing to sanction a permanent move.
But the Daily Mail reports the England Under-21 international is expected to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge before being sent out on loan.
Leeds have struggled in the transfer market since the signings of Robin Koch from Freiburg and Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia at the end of August.
Potential deals for Josko Gvardiol of Dinamo Zagreb and Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul have stalled in recent weeks.
Leeds have offered £20million plus a 20 per cent sell-on fee for Croatian centre-back Gvardiol but Zagreb are said to be holding out for £23million up front.
Leeds also face competition from RB Leipzig for the 18-year-old’s signature.
Udinese meanwhile, are unwilling to enter negotiations for De Paul below the £37million mark but talks are ongoing.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler and Barcelona’s Rafinha Alcantara have been identified as possible alternatives.
Liverpool’s Harry Wilson has also been linked with a move to Elland Road.
Leeds have however secured the signing of 18-year-old winger Crysencio Summerville from Feyenoord for £1.3million.
