Los Blancos had attempted to keep Thibaut Courtois and Hazard within the group so they could prepare them for the upcoming campaign.
And while the goalkeeper stayed, Hazard jetted off with his international team-mates despite not seeing a single minute of action.
Boss Roberto Martinez was eager for the playmaker to be a part of the dressing room for the double header of fixtures.
Belgium beat Denmark 2-0 in their opening clash before thrashing Iceland 5-1.
According to AS, Real Madrid chiefs were left perplexed at Hazard’s call-up even though he wasn’t fit enough to play.
They had their own rehabilitation programme that they expected Hazard to follow to get him in shape for the upcoming campaign.
Real Madrid kick off their season against Real Sociedad on September 20.
It is a huge season for Hazard who has yet to star at the Bernabeu since his £143million move from Chelsea in 2019.

He even described it as the worst season of his career after scoring just once in 22 outings with hamstring, foot and ankle injuries a constant problem.
He said in July: “There have been injuries, but I hope this is behind and that next year will be better.
“In reality it has not been such a terrible year because I have been able to come to this club and we have won the league in my first year.
“I can’t ask for more. [But] on an individual level it has been the worst year of my career.
“It has been a little strange season with everything that has happened.”
