Fans call for Maya Jama to replace Le Tissier and Co on Soccer Saturday after impressive Soccer Aid pundit appearance

SOCCER AID fans called for Maya Jama to be given a regular spot on Sky Sports after the presenter’s pundit appearance on Sunday night.

TV and radio host Jama, 26, was on the panel for the Unicef charity friendly between an England side and World XI made up of former pros and celebrities.

Joining Alex Scott and Omid Djalili in the ITV studio perched on the Old Trafford stands, stunning Jama revealed she was a West Ham fan – because of the hooligan film Green Street – who has a soft spot for her local club, Bristol Rovers.

World XI claimed victory in the 2020 edition of the exhibition match, winning on penalties for the second year in a row, after a 1-1 draw.

The Radio 1 DJ even correctly predicted a rare low-scoring affair in the annual fixture, while her fellow pundits tipping a nine-goal thriller.

And Soccer Aid viewers were left in no doubt that that form deserved a shot in the upcoming live auditions.

Twitter poster Steve wrote: “I think Maya Jama should replace Matt Le Tissier on Soccer Saturday.”

Niall added: “Get Maya Jama on Soccer Saturday.”

Joe wrote: “Soccer Aid have got it spot on with their pundits tonight and I think Soccer Saturday would be much better going forward replacing the three recently sacked panel members with Alex Scott, Maya Jama, and Omid Djalili.”

Jason remarked: “If Soccer Saturday are still looking for replacements for Le Tiss, Charlie and Thompson, Iā€™m saying Alex Scott, Maya Jama and Kirsty Gallacher know their stuff.”

Kurt tweeted: “Maya Jama has done a fantastic job tonight and should 100% be part of the new soccer Saturday team.”

Darren wrote online: “Only Maya Jama can save Soccer Saturday.”

YouTuber Chunkz missed the crucial penalty in the shootout as he ballooned his effort high and wide.

Comedian Lee Mack also missed from the spot, for the second year running, as the World XI earned a 4-3 shootout win.

Spurs legend Robbie Keane scored the opener for the World XI in normal time, which was cancelled out by Yung Filly’s strike for England.
