Luis Suarez ‘wanted by Al Arabi’ as Qatari club join David Beckham’s Inter Miami in transfer race for Barcelona star

LUIS SUAREZ is at the centre of a transfer battle with Qatari club Qatar Al Arabi rivalling David Beckham’s Inter Miami for his signature.

Al Arabi coach Heimir Hallgrimsson is reported to have approached the Uruguay international’s representatives, according to bEIN Sports.

The ageing Barcelona star’s current deal with his Nou Camp employers is set to expire next year.

But Mundo Deportivo claim a clause in Suarez’s current agreement means his contract will automatically renew if he appears in at least 60 per cent of Barca’s games next term.

The chances of Suarez getting first-team appearances for the LaLiga title runners-up could be limited should the club succeed in their audacious bid to sign Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The 22-year-old, who’s racked up 19 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions this term, is valued at £100million.

Earlier this year reports in Spain claimed Barcelona chiefs were plotting a mass clearout in a bid to free up funds to prise the Argentina star away from Inter Milan.

It is thought at least nine were likely to be put up for sale in a bid to seal a deal for Lionel Messi’s international teammate.

And Suarez could be among the names likely to make way for the Serie A hotshot.

The 33-year-old, who was battling with injury problems earlier this year,  has already been approached with a tempting offer from MLS giants Inter Milan.

The newest club in America’s top football division are reportedly offering the former Liverpool frontman a lucrative four-year deal.

Suarez is understood to be open to the possibility of a Stateside move to play in David Beckham’s side.

And Mundo Deportivo say the Barca star often quizzes his compatriot and Seattle Sounders player Nico Lodeiro about life in the MLS.

Meanwhile Barcelona bosses are reportedly focused on reducing their wage bill in a bid to try and get a deal for Martinez over the line ahead of next season.

But media in Spain claim the club could be prepared to wait until 2021 to swoop for the Inter star.
