Man City ‘agree £32m Ferran Torres transfer from Valencia’ with final details being ironed out in ‘very advanced’ talks

MANCHESTER CITY and Valencia have agreed a deal for the transfer of right winger Ferran Torres, according to reports.

Pep Guardiola’s side were originally told they would have to pay more than £40million for the 20-year-old star.

But reports in Spain now claim that a deal of £22.6m has been reached with just over £9m in bonuses too.

Sports Illustrated carry the report from journalist Hector Gomez of GolsMediaSports.

The two clubs were already believed to be in “very advanced negotiations”.

City’s transfer chief Txiki Begiristain and Torres’ agent Jorge Mendes – who also looks after Cristiano Ronaldo – were conducting talks.

Torres is set to become City’s first major signing of the summer – and he will cover the space left by Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern Munich.

Man City could field an all-conquering team next season

Guardiola’s entire future at the club was up in the air until City’s two-year Europe ban was overturned by CAS.

It means City – who finished second in the league, 18 points behind Liverpool – can still attract players with the promise of Champions League football.

Guardiola will have the financial backing to spend this summer, despite coronavirus stripping the coffers of many clubs.

His team have a 2-1 lead over Real Madrid ahead of their last-16 second-leg clash at the Etihad next week.

And the Spaniard will be hell-bent on reclaiming the Premier League title from Liverpool after their runaway victory this year.

Torres scored four goals and registered five assists in 34 LaLiga appearances last season.

He only had one year remaining on his Valencia contract, which he signed in April 2018.
