As one of the most prolific strikers on the continent over the last decade, it’s little surprise clubs are fighting for his services.
Portuguse giants Benfica are firmly in the hunt, while Premier League new boys Leeds have let their interest be known.
Now, French publication Le10Sport report that German champions Bayern Munich are eyeing a deal.
It’s claimed they are seeking a back-up to main man Robert Lewandowski and Cavani, 33, has been identified as fitting the bill.
The report adds that Cavani’s half-brother, who works as his agent, has even held talks with Bayern.
The biggest obstacle to any move for the 116-cap Uruguay international is his wages.
It’s understood Cavani is seeking in excess of £200,000-a-week.
This could prove an obstacle for Benfica who must convince the ex-Napoli player to take a paycut.
Although up their sleeve is the offer of Champions League football which could help sway his decision.
If a deal can’t be agreed, it could open the door for Bayern, although paying huge wages for a player who will spend much of his time on the bench could be a problem.
That could see Leeds enter the fray, with owner Andrea Radrizzani admitting he’d love to bring the striker on board this summer.
The Italian told Sky Sports Italia: “In addition to his quality, Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach.
“Having said that, we’ve certainly thought about him and we’ll see, given he’s still available on a free transfer.”
Cavani’s scored 200 goals in 301 games for PSG after banging in 104 in 138 matches for Napoli.
