After playing through the pain in the key, ultimately title-winning victory over Barnsley, Berardi was injured after a goul-mouth scramble with his season ended abruptly.

The incident occurred late in the first-half following a Wayne Rooney free-kick.

After a tangle in the box, Berardi came off worse in a coming together and was left slumped on the turf after an awkward landing.

The Swiss ace was taken off on a stretcher to be replaced by Luke Ayling – with NINE minutes added on to the end of the first-half as a result.

The champions went a goal down early in the second half, thanks to a goal from Chris Martin in the 55th-minute.

Martin grabbed his 11th goal of the season after Leeds were failed to deal with a cross in from the right-side, able to poke him in simple manner.

But just one minute later, Leeds were back on level terms after Pablo Hernandez rifled home at the second time of asking.

Hernandez’s first effort was deflected straight back at him and he was able to fire home the equaliser from the edge of the box.

And the turnaround was completed after 75 minutes when Jamie Shackleton made it 2-1 to the visitors.

How Leeds could line up in the Premier League next season

An own goal from Matthew Clarke with six minutes to play sealed the 3-1 victory.

Leeds already have one eye on the summer with their Premier League status assured.

As well as offering Marcelo Bielsa an £8million-a-year contract, the Elland Road club are eyeing up SIX transfers, including moves for James Milner and Joe Hart.
