Chelsea ‘in talks with Kai Havertz over transfer who will tell Bayer Leverkusen he wants £90m London move this summer’

CHELSEA target Kai Havertz has told Bayer Leverkusen chiefs he wants to move this summer but the Blues must stump up £90million, according to reports.

The Germany playmaker is one of the most highly sought-after players in world football following a sensational Bundesliga campaign.

Havertz, 21, has scored 12 league goals and six assists to attract the interest of European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are reportedly trying to steal a march as he plots to build a title-challenging squad.

The Blues boss has already landed Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech and striker Timo Werner.

Havertz would be seen as the final piece in the puzzle in Chelsea’s new-look attack.

And the Telegraph write how they have been handed a massive boost with the player ready to force a move away from the club.

Journalist Alfredo Pedulla also believes the club will need to fork out big money to lure him to Stamford Bridge after being given the green light following talks with the player’s agent.

Havertz still has a contract at Leverkusen until the summer of 2022.

It was reported how Lampard is ready to sell six players in order to raise the £90m required to land the forward.

The likes of Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Kenedy and Emerson Palmieri could all be heading out.

Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller insisted the player can leave if a club meets their demands.

He told Bild: “We have an agreement – if it fits, he can go this summer.

“As of now, he is a player of ours. We have our ideas, we know what he can do.

“I personally hope that he stays one more year. Of course, you can’t force anyone.

“Havertz knows what he owes to his colleagues, the fans and club.”

Chelsea have already spent big on Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax but are looking to invest again.

They are looking at a left back, with Leicester’s Ben Chilwell top of the list.

And they could bring in a new centre-back and goalkeeper but will need to create room in their squad first.
