Floyd Mayweather spars for 40 minutes solid leaving partner Denis Douglin stunned by 43-year-old’s power and speed

FLOYD MAYWEATHER left Denis Douglin stunned after sparring for 40 minutes without seeming to lose his touch.

Super-middleweight southpaw Douglin revealed Mayweather phoned him up and asked to meet at his Las Vegas gym for a 4am sparring session.

The 32-year-old expected the retired American to be out of touch, having not fought since 2017, but was left shocked by how easily the 43-year-old could roll back the clock.

And had it not been for an eager Devin Haney desperately wanting to spar himself, Mayweather could have found himself in the ring all night.

Speaking to David Sparks on Instagram Live, Douglin said: “So I get in the ring with Floyd, like I said, we’re talking big s***. But all friendly s***. It’s boxing.

“First round we’re rocking, second round we’re rocking, it’s good work. I guess he thought I’m not in shape. So like the fourth round, I went ‘I’m not tired at all.’

“He like, ‘Bet. We turning the bell off, we doing dog, we’re gonna spar until somebody quit.’

“I’m like, ‘N***a, you might as well cancel your day then, I’m not quitting, cancel everything you got, we’re gonna be here all day brother.’

“He said, ‘Let’s see.’

“We did like 20 minutes. Then Devin was like, ‘Can you hurry up? I’m trying to spar too’. He said, ‘Alright let’s get out so Devin can spar.’

“I said, ‘We can get out, but just so you know, I didn’t quit.’ So we kept going again for like another eight minutes, then Devin said it again.

“And we said, ‘Alright, we’re gonna get out.’ So me and Floyd sparred for like a good 40 minutes.”

Mayweather has spent most the coronavirus pandemic training, sparking rumours of yet another comeback.

And Douglin – who was being pushed back by a far smaller Mayweather – has lifted the lid on how sharp and powerful the legend’s counter punching is, leaving him in awe.

He said: “His power’s still lit. He hit me with a good body shot, ‘I’m like, okay OG.’

“Throughout the sparring I catch myself walking back and Floyd’s walking me down. I’m like, ‘What the f***’s going on? Why’s this little n***a walking me down?’

“I’m watching how he does it. He’ll start countering my jab crazy, and the n***a’s so fast, it makes me back up.

“So now I’m backing up, trying to figure out what I’mma throw, and now this n***a’s pressing me.

“Son really the GOAT to me, I really look up to him. Like 40 years old, just sparred me 40 minutes, that’s crazy.”
