Bundesliga players WILL NOT be punished for celebrating goals close together after two players are spotted ‘kissing’

BUNDESLIGA stars Marcus Thuram and Dedryck Boyata will escape punishment despite breaking social distancing guidelines.

Thuram, who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, and Hertha Berlin star Boyata appeared to kiss their team-mates while celebrating goals as the Bundesliga returned.

German top flight rules had banned players from celebrating with their team-mates during the coronavirus pandemic.

But Thuram looked to peck his fellow player on the cheek after scoring his side’s second against Frankfurt.

Any contact outside of challenges is banned – and subs have even been made to sit two metres apart.

Thuram, 22, the son of France legend Lilian, will not be punished by Bundesliga bosses after it was confirmed they will take no action on players who flout guidelines.

Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland showed celebrating a goal while respecting social distancing guidelines could be done.

He danced in the corner with his team-mates two metres away after netting in the 4-0 demolition of Schalke.

But amazingly, Thuram was not the only player who breached social distancing measures.

Boyata was earlier shown getting very close to team-mate Marko Grujic in their 3-0 win over Hoffenheim.

Regular testing is mandatory for every player and staff member of all 18 Bundesliga clubs.

In addition to solo celebrations, league chiefs have also banned mascots, team photographs and handshakes.

All games are being played behind closed doors, which means no fans and only essential staff granted permission to attend games.

While the measures have enabled football to be played again, many were left questioning whether it was worth it given how flat the action seemed.

Many footie fans on social media likened the live action as being akin to “training sessions”.

Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt tweeted: “Watching this Dortmund Schalke game, it’s just not the same without fans energy is all out of sync.”

And Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas was another who pointed out the “power of the fans”.
