It was a deft finish that put his side 1-0 up against Schalke, with Thorgan Hazard getting the assist.
It was Haaland’s tenth goal in his last nine games for Dortmund, with his last effort coming 66 days ago before the pandemic led to lockdown.
And he wheeled out a new ‘social distance’ celebration in the corner after firing his side ahead.
Delighted team-mates kept their distance as the 19-year-old Norwegian took the plaudits.
But the goals did not stop there for the league’s second placed side.
Raphael Guerreiro scored the stroke of half-time and later followed it up on 63 minutes to make it 4-0.
Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan scored in between with a 48th minute goal.
England forward Jadon Sancho came on as a late sub having been benched due to a prior calf injury.
Second place Dortmund kept a clean sheet and closed the gap to just one point behind champions and league leaders Bayern Munich.

From the resulting penalty, Dimitrij Nazarov fired home to give Erzgebirge Aue a 1-0 lead.
The man advantage proved crucial as the home side eventually ran out 3-1 winners.
Kruger and Cacutulua scored another couple for Erzgebirge before Biada netted what turned out to be a consolation.
