Trabzonspor’s ‘Turkish Messi’ Omur dreams of Barcelona transfer to link up with the real deal

TURKISH wonderkid Abdulkadir Omur has put Barcelona on red alert by revealing his dream to play for the LaLiga giants.

The Trabzonspor midfielder,  who has been dubbed the “Turkish Lionel Messi”, was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League last season.

Manchester United sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action, while Liverpool and Newcastle also registered an interest.

But Omur made it clear that a move to Barcelona to link-up with six-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi remains his dream.

He told Turkish outlet Fanatik: “I am a huge fan of Barcelona and love watching them play.

“I have always dreamed of playing for Barcelona since I was a kid.

“I know they compare me to Messi in Turkey but I still have to develop a lot to reach that level.

“Maybe in 2-3 years I can get near that level.

“But I do want to play for Barcelona and represent my country abroad.”

Omur is one of the most highly-rated young talents in the Turkish Super Lig but missed most of the season through injury before the coronavirus pandemic.

He came through the youth ranks at Daniel Sturridge’s former side Trabzonspor and has netted 10 goals for the Black Sea based side.

Omur remains under contract at the Senol Gunes Stadium until summer 2022.

Meanwhile, Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez has been told that he must hand in a transfer request to force through a move to the Catalans.

The 22-year-old has also drawn interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City with his stunning performances for Inter Milan this season.

But with Antonio Conte at the helm, the Nerazzurri want to build their team around strikers Martinez and Romelu Lukaku.

‘Lionel Messi can leave Barcelona for free at the end of the season’ says ESPN’s Sid Lowe
