Walker has moved to Milan initially on loan until the end of the season.

“For me, for the sake of the fee of £4m, the vets team I used to play for would have bought him for that.”

On top of the fee, SunSport understands that Milan will pick up the majority of his £150,000 weekly pay packet.

The Serie A side’s local rivals Inter were also keen on signing him but wages proved a stumbling block.

There was also a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side, but Walker was keen to still play at the highest level.
