Spanish outlet Sport has claimed that Real Madrid officials may consider the former Liverpool boss as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti should Los Blancos miss out on the Champions League and La Liga title.

Xabi Alonso had initially been the main target, but his inconsistent campaign with Bayer Leverkusen has led to doubts among the camp.

The prospect of Klopp taking over has excited officials at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He was allegedly considered as a potential managerial candidate a few years ago but president Florentino Perez did not approve at the time.
