A FOOTBALL stadium opened by Sir Alex Ferguson is up for sale for just £500,000.
The Valley Road ground was the home of Manchester-based outfit Flixton FC.
The once-popular club was formed in 1960 but was dissolved in 2012 after falling on hard times.
Flixton last played in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division but had reached the Northern Premier League in the 1990s.
After the club dissolved, the Valley Road ground became unoccupied, having been opened back in 1995 by Manchester United legend Fergie.
It has not been completely disused since then, as Sunday League games have been played there.

Luke Littler’s friend and popular YouTuber AngryGinge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, has used the ground for an Under-18s team that he manages.
The ground will go under the hammer next week after being listed on the property website Rightmove.
A guide price of £500,000 has been set on the ground by SDL Property Auctions, part of Eddisons.
The auction will open on January 22 for 24 hours with bidders hoping to win the ground.

Eddison’s national director, Andy Thompson, has suggested that the aim is to keep the ground for a football club rather than redevelop the site.
He said: “We’ve had good interest.
“Importantly, we’ve had interest from the sporting world.
“People looking to keep it as a football club and as a community site rather than it being targeted by housing developers, albeit we’ve had a broad mix of interest.”
The winning bidder will claim the ground as well as a spacious two-storey clubhouse, a car park and changing rooms.
They will also be buying a former training field on the six-acre site.
