MANCHESTER UNITED have beaten Arsenal on penalties to book their spot in the FA Cup fourth round.
A first-half with little action saw the Gunners’ injury crisis deepen after Gabriel Jesus was forced off on a stretcher.
The Red Devils came out of the traps fast after the interval, with Bruno Fernandes’ stunning finish giving the visitors the lead.
Minutes later, Diogo Dalot was sent off after he received his second yellow card of the match.
The Gunners took no time to pounce with the man advantage as Gabriel fired the hosts back on level terms on 63 minutes.
Martin Odegaard had the chance to put Arsenal in front from the penalty spot, but Altay Bayindir denied the Norweigan with a superb save.
The FA Cup clash went to extra time and 10-man United survived a Gunners onslaught to take the tie to penalties.
Ruben Amorim’s men secured a 5-3 win in the shootout to progress to the fourth round.

Hero Bayindir ready to help
Spotkick hero Altay Bayindir revealed his delight after helping Manchester United into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Turkish goalkeeper was named Player of the Match after saving penalties from Martin Odegaard during normal time, and then again from Kai Havertz in the shootout.
I just want to help everyone at this great football club, and make these fans happy. I want to keep working, and you have to be ready every second if you are a Manchester United player.

United to host Leicester City
Manchester United’s reward for seeing off Arsenal was to be drawn first out of the hat by Martin Keown.
The Red Devils have been pitted against fellow Premier League outfit Leicester City.
It means a return to Old Trafford for Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The fourth round ties will be played between the 7th and 10th of February.

The 2005 competition was won by Arsenal on spotkicks after a drab 0-0 draw.
