WBC interim super-welterweight title holder Vergil Ortiz Jr will square up against former WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov THIS WEEKEND.
Ortiz Jr said he wanted to fight Madrimov because of their “fun” sparring session against each other – and expects an entertaining bout.
Ortiz Jr will enter the ring with an unbeaten record of 21-0 (20 KOs), while Madrimov comes in with a record of 10-1-1 (7 KOs).
The Uzbek comes off the back of a narrow defeat to Terrence Crawford in the BMO Stadium in California last August.
He was scheduled to fight Serhii Bohachuk on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 in December but had to pull out due to acute bronchitis.
Ortiz Jr beat Bohachuk in his most recent fight in August, winning by majority decision in the Michelob Ultra Arena in Nevada.
