Why do the Nike logos look different on Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham third kits this season?

All four football teams have had third kits made for them, but there’s something unique about Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs’.

Their third kits have the classic Nike swooshes turned vertically, with a smaller swoosh alongside it.

The change was first seen at Old Trafford where Liverpool wore their third shirt in their 3-0 win over Manchester United – and fans are wondering what it’s all about.

Why are the Nike logos different on Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham kits?

Nike’s decision to change the logo is inspired by their aim to celebrate the rise of women’s football.

Liverpool’s third kit features a white and red and black colour scheme while Chelsea’s is black, pink and yellow.

Tottenham’s is predominantly green with yellow and mint green trim.

“Unveiling The 2024/25 Club third kit collection, Together We Rise, built to celebrate the women’s game from grassroots to greatness,” their explanation reads.

“Intentional vertical swoosh to show the upwards rise, togetherness and acceleration of women’s football.”

Chelsea said of the change: “A vertical, double swoosh nods to the acceleration of the women’s game.

“Two logos. Two teams. One goal. Worn by both the men’s and women’s squads, it points upward to celebrate the rise of women’s football.”

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson praised the change.

He said: “I really like it. I like the colour and the detail on the shirt, especially with the Swoosh going up, which is a bit different.

“It’s signifying the rise of the women’s game and we’re a big part of it to try to help that.”
