THIS is the touching moment Wigan players gave their U18s captain a hero’s welcome after he beat cancer.
Callum Jones is a lifelong Lactics fan and is the star player of their youth side after joining in 2014.
But in October, the teenager was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma after suffering from chest pains.
He underwent chemotherapy on two weekly cycles at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.
And earlier this week, Jones declared that his treatment had been successful.
Jones then made his triumphant return to Wigan.

And he was given a true hero’s welcome as players and staff embraced him at the training ground.
Jones was all smiles as he was given a rousing round of applause.
He wrote on Instagram: “In October 2023 I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
“After a tough few months of receiving chemotherapy, I’m happy to be able to say that my treatment has been successful.
