Tottenham new boy Radu Dragusin set for Premier League baptism of fire after he is granted work permit

TOTTENHAM’S new boy Radu Dragusin has secured his work permit ahead of Sunday’s clash against Manchester United.

The Genoa star arrived in North London on loan in a deal worth £25million that saw forgotten man Djed Spence headed in the other direction.

Signing the Romanian defender is a major boost to Ange Postecoglou’s squad after beating Bayern Munich for his signature.

But there has been doubt over whether the Dragusin would be eligible to feature in this weekend’s squad at Old Trafford.

Spurs have been battling to get the 21-year-old’s work permit in time for the Premier League clash.

And it has now been revealed that Dragusin has been given the green light from the Government to play.

On Friday boss Postecoglou revealed whether the loanee will make Sunday’s team.

He said: “We’ll see. Hopefully, all the paperwork gets done and if it does, he will be in the squad.”

German giants Bayern tried to snatch the centre-back last minute from Spurs.

With Dragusin’s agent, Florin Manea admitting he was shocked his client was so committed to Postecoglou’s side.

Dragusin began his career at local side Sportul Studentesc before moving on to Regal Sport Bucharest who have an affiliation with Atletico Madrid.

But the La Liga side missed the boat on the centre-half, who moved to Italy in 2018 to link up with Juventus and their academy.

Dragusin could have been a star on our shores sooner – snubbing Chelsea as a teenager to sign for the Serie A giants.

PSG were also interested, but the Italian side moved fast to secure the talent – paying around £215,000 to secure the services of the then Romania U16 captain.

And on loan last term he assisted Genoa in gaining promotion from Serie B.

Incredibly, he missed just 45 minutes of a tiring campaign – contributing to his club’s impressive defensive record of conceding the second least in the division.

He now joins newbie and fellow loanee German forward Timo Werner at Spurs.
