SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Chris Wilder fancies signing Bournemouth star Chris Mepham.
And the swoop may gather pace as interest grows in Blades’ centre-half Anel Ahmedhodzic.
Wilder is keen to take Mepham, 26, to boost the club’s survival hopes.
The Cherries may sell if the deal is right as he is not a regular starter.
Mepham has played just eight matches this season and just two were Premier League starts.
He joined Bournemouth from Brentford in 2019 for £12million and he has gone on to play 116 times for the club.

Mepham is a regular in the Welsh side, earning 44 international caps during his career.
While the chances of the Blades landing him are good, it could be bad news on Ahmedhodzic.
The 24-year-old Bosnian has attracted possible buyers after a decent campaign.
Sheffield United have also inquired about Strasbourg centre-half Gerzino Nyamsi but would have to fork out around £6m.
