Solskjaer has been linked with a host of jobs since leaving United and the Ireland international job was one linked with the Norwegian.

But according to Andy Mitten, the man himself has ruled out the move.

Mitten posted on X: “Keep getting asked about the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Republic of Ireland job story.

“Spoke to him. He has no idea where it came from. He has complete respect for the country and did speak briefly about the job in Jan, but decided it wouldn’t be right for him.”

The former right-back replaced Stephen Kenny, who left after failing to qualify for Euro 2024.

Solskjaer meanwhile confirmed he has rejected approaches since leaving United.

He said on The Overlap podcast: “I have a few offers but I’m not ready.
