Non-league clash abandoned after footballer Harry Gamble needs urgent treatment on pitch and is rushed to hospital


BECKENHAM TOWN’S clash with Phoenix Sports was abandoned today after Harry Gamble required treatment on the pitch.

The two sides met at Phoenix’s Mayplace Ground for an Isthmian League South East Division encounter.

With the second half about to get underway, Becks ace Gamble required urgent treatment for a head injury from medical staff.

He was subsequently taken to hospital, with the match abandoned.

The score had been level at 0-0 when the referee halted proceedings.

In a statement posted to social media after the game, Beckenham wrote: “Today’s match at the Mayplace Ground was abandoned at the start of the second half, with the score at 0-0, due to a head injury sustained by Harry Gamble.

“Harry has been taken to hospital for tests.

“Our thoughts are with Harry and we all wish him a very speedy recovery.”

Beckenham were also keen to thank their opponents for their handling of the situation.

They continued: “A huge thank you to the medical team of @phoenixsport82 for assisting our team with caring for Harry on the pitch.

No arrangements have yet been made for when the game will be replayed.
