JACOB MURPHY was left shocked during an awkward post-match interview on TNT Sports.
The Newcastle winger spoke on the pitch at Villa Park following his side’s 3-1 win on Tuesday night.
A brace from Fabian Schar and an Alex Moreno goal helped the Magpies claim all three points against Aston Villa.
However, Murphy had believed he was the scorer of Newcastle’s third and was only informed otherwise during the interview.
He was picked out at the far post as Eddie Howe’s side finished off a flowing counter attack to extend their lead.
The ball deflected over the line off Moreno, though, after Murphy had stabbed the ball towards goal.

Standing alongside Schar, he was told by the TNT Sports reporter: “I’m not one to take away goals from attacking players but I think yours has gone down as a Moreno own goal.”
In response, Murphy quipped: “Ouch… 12 weeks out for that.”
The 28-year-old had been sidelined since late October with a shoulder injury before returning to the side.
He missed 19 matches during his spell on the treatment table, which ended with a start in the FA Cup victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Had he been awarded the third goal, it would have been his first since scoring against Crystal Palace in October.
Tuesday’s win sees Newcastle move up to seventh in the table, just three points behind West Ham.
The Magpies are still 11 points adrift of the top four, though, after 22 matches of the season.
