A DRAMATIC National League clash between Gateshead and Woking was suspended after a player was rushed to hospital with a serious injury.
Just 14 minutes into the game, Woking’s Dion Kelly-Evans clashed with Gateshead’s Greg Olley.
The referee promptly issued a straight red card to Kelly-Evans – but thoughts instantly turned to the stricken Olley on the grass.
The referee decided to suspend the match and the 28-year-old was taken to hospital.
The remaining players were taken off the pitch, with the game stopped for 40 minutes.
Both sets of supporters showed their solidarity giving the Gateshead captain a standing ovation.
