Maupay continues Maddison feud after Tottenham beat Brentford – and even Littler gets involved

NEAL MAUPAY hit out at James Maddison after Brentford’s defeat to Tottenham – taking aim at his relegation record.

The Bees striker sparked a row by mocking Maddison’s dart celebration after opening the scoring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Maddison reacted by slapping Maupay on the back of his neck and words were exchanged between the pair as tempers flared.

Spurs and Maddison would have the last laugh however as they came from behind to win 3-2.

Brennan Johnson celebrated putting his side in front by aiming his dart celebration in the general direction of Maupay.

Maddison, 26, then made fun of the striker after the match saying: “It was too early for that, too much time left in the game.

“I just said to him he probably hasn’t scored enough goals in the last few years to have his own celebration so he probably had to copy mine.”

Maddison also uploaded a photo of Maupay’s celebration on Instagram alongside a snap of himself celebrating and the scoreline, captioning the post: “A short story”.

Maupay, 27, cheekily responded: “Haha rent free.”

Even darts sensation Luke Littler could not help but get involved as he commented: “Yes sirrrr🎯🤫”

Maupay then went one further by uploading his own post, putting the England star in his place by reminding him he has an inferior goal record.

The Frenchman shared a photo of his darts celebration on Instagram alongside the caption: “Went a bit early with that one.

“Gutted we couldn’t get the win. More goals and less relegations in my career than James Maddison. We go again Monday bees 🐝”

Maupay is no stranger to winding up opposition players and has admitted he gets a kick out of it.

He infamously infuriated Arsenal fans players over an incident in 2020 that injured keeper Bernd Leno and provoked Matteo Guendouzi, who ended up grabbing his throat.

The former Brighton star also has a habit of mimicking celebrations and when Wilfried Zaha cupped his ears towards Seagulls fans to celebrate a goal, Maupay did the same to Crystal Palace supporters after he equalised.
