Mason Mount’s former club to be STRIPPED of professional licence after 18-point ban and fine for major rule breach


VITESSE are in dire straits with their professional licence reportedly set to be taken away.

The Dutch outfit were relegated this season after being hit with an 18-point deduction.

They were accused of providing incorrect information required for investigators into potential violations of sanctions.

And according to local reports, the licensing committee are set to reject a restructuring plan on Monday.

That would see Vitesse, who reportedly have no bank account or accountant, lose their licence and facing oblivion.

The report adds that chiefs thought they had the pieces in place for a takeover but could not reach an agreement with largest creditor Coley Parry.

Vitesse have spent the last 35 years in the Eredivisie.

They launched a crowdfunding campaign in a bid to secure their future last month but it was not enough

Chelsea loanees Lewis Baker and Matt Miazga gave money, as did former Swansea striker Wilfried Bony.

Captain Marco van Ginkel – another former Blues star – said: “It is really bizarre how Vitesse is living at the moment.

“Donations come in from every nook and cranny. Of course, we as a group cannot lag behind.”

The troubles come after Chelsea and England star Mason Mount enjoyed a successful loan spell at the club.

Mount, 25, scored 14 times and provided ten assists in 39 games, helping them to sixth in the Eredivise as they earned a spot in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

They also reached the last 16 of the Europa Conference League in 2022 before they lost 2-1 on aggregate to eventual winners Roma.

Their run to the knockout stages included a 1-0 win over Tottenham in the group stage.
