Man Utd legend Roy Keane reveals Everton star ‘had a go at me once… he obviously regretted it’

Keane was alongside David Jones and Jamie Redknapp when he was asked about Everton captain Seamus Coleman.

The two crossed paths on international duty when Keane was the assistant manager for the Irish national side and Coleman was a regular feature in the squad.

And when asked about whether the pair got on by Jones, Keane revealed they had their fair share of disagreements.

He joked: “I had a few rows with Seamus, I know you find that hard to believe.”

And Coleman was brave enough to snap back at his then boss, who is well known for his fiery temper.

Although Keane explained that it didn’t work out well for the Everton full-back.

He said: “Seamus had a go back at me once… he obviously regretted it.”

But the 52-year-old hard-man explained that he actually liked the character of Coleman and appreciated that he has the gusto to bite back.

He added: “He had a go back, but I like that. You know he’s also got that. I know people talk about characters and he’s a great lad.

“It doesn’t mean to say he’s not a winner and he’s up for the challenge.

“Listen you don’t play at that level with the injuries he’s had unless you’re a fighter.”

Coleman has made an impressive 412 appearance for Everton since arriving on Merseyside in 2009.

And he still turns out for the Republic of Ireland national side too with 68 caps to his name in an international career that began in 2011.
