Man Utd fans celebrate as they spot Ten Hag’s tactical tweak against Aston Villa just seconds into clash

The England star returned to the Red Devils’ starting XI in last week’s 3-0 win against West Ham.

He was deployed alongside Lisandro Martinez but featured on the right.

However, following an injury to the Argentine, Raphael Varane was selectd by Erik ten Hag today.

And as the game kicked off, he was on the right – with Maguire reverting to the left.

He spent his entire United career playing on that side before Ten Hag took charge 18 months ago.

It was the first time Maguire and Varane had started together in the league under the Dutchman.

And supporters could not resist hailing the move, with many feeling Maguire is far better on the left than on the right.

One said: “We have the GOAT Maguire.”

Indeed, Ten Hag revealed before kick-off that Maguire would go back to his old position.

He said: “Varane played very well against Ollie Watkins last time.

“Harry Maguire is used to play on the left side and the partnership with Luke Shaw is very familiar to him.”

United started the game well and went ahead through Rasmus Hojlund.

But they were pegged back in the second after Douglas Luiz nabbed an equaliser for Villa.

However, the Red Devils ended the game victorious as Scott McTominay came off the bench to head home a late winner.
